The film follows the Protestant pastor Jana throughout her journey of leaving the Church. But when will this difficult decision finally bring her the long-awaited freedom? She first has to face additional challenges as some very old wounds reopen.

Maja Prettner

Maja Prettner (1987) studied film direction at the AGRFT, University in Ljubljana. She has been working on documentary and fiction series and films with different television broadcasters. Her works have been shown at film festivals in Slovenia and abroad. Home Sweet Home was her first award-winning documentary feature. In 2017, she was a selected artist in residence in New York. In 2018, she was selected for Berlinale Talent Campus as part of the Berlinale festival.

“For five years we have been very dedicated and have put our hearts into this project, following the everyday routine and important personal events of our protagonist, Protestant pastor Jana. We have managed to be part of Jana’s private life and experience her most intimate family moments.”
