Zarja Menart

Zarja Menart is a director, animator, illustrator and art director. She has been working side by side with Špela Čadež for a decade revitalising the multiplane cut-out technique as main animator on multiawarded films Nighthawk and Steakhouse. The short animated film The Three Birds is her directorial debut.

“My film, inspired by an old folk tune, symbolizes a journey through the landscapes of body and soul, guided by three birds. Light filtered through transparent papers painted with oil and combined with scratched cut-outs aims to illuminate the subconscious state of mind.”
