After ten years in Slovenia, Vera and her son Jan return to her hometown in rural Croatia. They are met with old family problems because Vera doesn’t share the strong religious views of her mother, Marija. Marija wants Jan baptized before Vera’s father’s funeral, which makes things worse between them. Vera feels out of place in her hometown, but Jan starts to fit in and make friends, even acting against his mother’s wishes.
