Tomaž Gorkič

Tomaž Gorkič is a film, television and theatre director and scriptwriter, working in Slovenia and Italy. His filmography includes directing two genre feature films and over ten short films, which have been screened at numerous film festivals around the globe and have received more than 50 international film awards. His feature debut Idyll/Killbillies (2015) was defined as ”the first true Slovenian horror film” and also as ”the most radical Slovenian movie after the independence” (Marcel Štefančič Jr., Mladina). It received 21 international film awards. His second feature satirical horror film The Curse of Valburga premiered at Sitges Film Festival in 2019 and has received 8 international film awards. Both films were released in cinema, on VOD and DVD in different countries around the world.

666 Productions is an independent Slovenian film production company with a strong focus on genre cinema, offering a wide range of audiovisual works—from music and dance videos to numerous short fiction films and two internationally successful feature films. The feature film The Curse of Valburga (Tomaž Gorkič, 2019) had its international premiere at the 52nd Sitges Film Festival in Spain. It won 8 film awards and is represented by the renowned international genre film sales agent Jinga Films (United Kingdom). The short fiction film The Moon of the Kurent: The Ritual (Tomaž Gorkič, 2022), created as part of the development for the feature film The Moon of the Kurent, was selected for the competition programs of over 40 international festivals and received six awards. 666 Productions operates in the realm of filmmaking with the aim of developing and empowering unique auteur approaches that convey dark reflections of the world through original cinematic stories.
